Abstract


In this paper, a low noise, low power reference buffer system is proposed for sensor applications. The buffer has a wide range of output programmability, which makes it suitable for a point-of-load (POL) architecture. The buffer employs programmability at the input reference selection, than that of at the output feedback path and maintains the amplifier in the unity feedback. This configuration avoids boosting the input referred noise at the buffer output. The buffer achieves noise of 105nV/??????? at 100Hz, integrated noise of 14.6μVRMS (10Hz- 100KHz) and PSR > 10dB up to 1MHz. With a supply input of 1.8V, the buffer outputs a range of 0.24V-1.5V. The buffer consumes only 6.2μA of quiescent current (IQ) across the entire output and load current range. The proposed buffer designed in 180nm BCD technology, supports 3mA load current, 1-100pF output load capacitor and acquires 0.011mm2 of silicon area.
